Stoke could offer Mamadou Sakho a Premier League lifeline, according to the Sunday Express, as the Potters scour the market for a new centre-back.
Mark Hughes is looking at alternatives with Ryan Shawcross yet to sign a new contract and Sakho, who spent the end of last season on loan at Crystal Palace, is on his wanted list. Reports suggest that should the asking fee be lowered then an offer for Sakho could come our way!
Mark Hughes and his team may have a difficult task convincing Sakho that his destiny is playing for them rather than a Champions League club as he hoped for.
It is obvious that the French centre-back is no longer part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans with Liverpool in the market for a new centre-back themselves.
Having spent the second-half of last season on loan at Crystal Palace was instrumental in their fight for survival. Despite this, Palace have been put off by the £30m asking fee. Steve Parish is quoted as saying;
“not going to work out” and added “We have other business to get done.”
Sakho has failed to impress Klopp and was frozen out of the squad after a series of clashes between them both.
Other clubs abroad have also shown an interest in Sakho, however it is thought he could be tempted with the opportunity to remain in the Premier League – something Hughes can tempt him with.
