Will Liverpool experience a record transfer season?
A lot of reports have come out stating that Jurgen Klopp will be backed in the transfer market this summer. This off the back of the club recently announcing record profits.
This will mean Jurgen Klopp will have more money to spend than any previous Liverpool manager.
The thing that goes through my mind is that Klopp doesn’t always invest heavily in players. He doesn’t buy stars but creates them. So this could all be talk…!
Financial results at Anfield look good.
The club revealed their annual financial results showing record turnover, with revenue close to £300m. Also a massive leap of 12% increase in commercial revenue.
Ian Ayre believes that this “is a good set of numbers” and that means Jurgen Klopp will receive substantial backing in the transfer market.
We are very fortunate in that everything we generate goes back into the team. There has never been a situation where we haven’t backed the manager and there will be no difference with Jurgen as we move forward…”
The accounts revealed that Liverpool’s American owners Fenway Sports Group have also reduced debt significantly. When they arrived at Anfield it was close to £240m, now it is down to a manageable £47m.
That has allowed the club to operate at a profit for the first time in almost a decade. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the next transfer window go into the black for the 1st time. Just so FSG can balance the books. We’ll wait and see…
I am sure that they are planning for next season. I’m convinced that Klopp already has a list of those he needs and those he doesn’t.
Record transfer season
It all hinges on whether we can get them, also if someone will buy our deadwood too. It’s going to be a record transfer season for sure.
Which record will be broken? The amount of money spent? Money recouped? Or, the amount of players moved on?
What do you think?
