Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has again insisted the club have no intention of selling Philippe Coutinho this summer to Barcelona. Coming not long after reports Barcelona were working out a suitable package to lure him to the Nou Camp.
Barcelona are in desperate need of a replacement for Andres Iniesta and Coutinho is now seen as the No.1 choice to many.
It will be interesting to see how they will come up with a ‘suitable package’. With rumours only £25m cash would be available for the Catalan Giants this summer. Seemingly the cost of the stadium refurbishment is taking it’s toll!
Barcelona are hoping that Coutinho will eventually push to make the move happen. However Klopp has stated to the press that Liverpool have absolutely no desire to cash in on the Brazilian.
Coutinho signed a new Liverpool contract in January, and Klopp said in reaction, via Sky Sports: “When did he sign his new contract?” the German said, jokingly adding: “With a £400m clause!
“There are absolutely no plans to sell. What our owners say is there is the absolute opportunity not to sell anybody if we do not want to. That means we can bring in other players and it is a good situation. We have a stable squad with a good basis.
“We want to bring a few in with fresh blood, but nobody will leave us without our say so I am completely relaxed about this.”
