After Liverpool awful defeat to Hull City on Saturday, Joel Matip has pledged that they will work harder and ‘do everything’ to rediscover the form they showed earlier in the season.
Yesterday Liverpool suffered their fourth defeat of the Premier League campaign, having played so well against Chelsea in mid-week they were frustrating against a team fighting for survival again.
Matip told Liverpoolfc.com post-match: “Of course it’s disappointing. We tried to win but it was not enough.”
“We have to work harder. The first half was not good. The second half was a little bit better, but not good enough. We have to start earlier. We’ve all said it, not only the manager.”
Liverpool face a very strong Tottenham next Saturday. So Klopp has a week to regroup and work out exactly what is wrong. They need to produce the high octane displays again, where they would harass and force errors to exploit. Whilst they have been ‘caught out’ recently it’s often out of desperation and lack of discipline .
“We [will] try to get back to that level,” said Matip. “We will do everything to get back to that level and play the football we played.”
“It was not a good day for us, of course, but next week is the next chance. We’ll try to do better and get some points.”
