Liverpool forward Sadio Mané could be out for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury, whilst representing Senegal during the 2-0 World Cup qualifying win over Cape Verde on Saturday.
Mané is set to miss Premier League games against Manchester United and Tottenham and both Champions League group fixtures against Maribor.
The worrying signs
Liverpool won just once in seven matches in all competitions while Mané was at the African Nations Cup in January.
During the start of the season Mané missed three games after being sent off during the loss to Man City. It’s fair to say they weren’t exactly firing in all cylinders.
Oxlade-Chamberlain to be given opportunity
Hopefully Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain can begin to repay some of the £35m investment Liverpool paid during the summer.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has endured a slow start to his Anfield career with many fans questioning if such a purchase was necessary – well now is his opportunity to prove those doubters wrong. With Mané out, you’d have to expect him to play a more significant role over the coming weeks.
