A win against Man United would have put us top along with Man City. Let’s just re-think that – After the difficult fixtures we’ve just had we are that close to the top…WOW.
Mr Klopp – I salute you.
So far we have 17 points in what has been a difficult start to the season. I am hoping the next batch of 8 games are just as successful. We have to continue to raise our game, regardless of the opposition. Saturday’s evening fixture is against West Brom.
The games against the Baggies have proven to be a difficult fixture in recent years. We’ve only won 2 of our last 6 games against them and drawing the other 4. 3 of them have been 0-0. The question is are we going to see the Pulis bus again?
There have been stories that the game against United was great preparation for West Brom.
I’m hoping that the West Brom defence won’t be as disciplined as United’s was. Although de Gea was on fire – thank fully we don’t have to face him for a while!!
In order to break the defence we really need better movement in the final third. The substitution on Monday which saw Lallana come on replacing Sturridge, allowed Firmino to go central and Coutinho play alongside him rather than behind.
Fully fit squad
Jurgen Klopp said that, although the United clash had left his players with a few knocks, no one was ruled for the visit of the Baggies to Anfield. “Actually in this moment there’s nothing really to moan about. We had a few kicks and things like this in the game (Man United) and still felt after the game but no-one is ruled out at the moment.
“Gini (Wijnaldum) is on the way back, that’s good and if nothing happens today or tomorrow we’ve got quite a big squad to choose from.”
Lallana’s movement will shake up the Baggies slow defenders. Wijnaldum will help push through with his efficient power.
Will we see Can again?
Should Klopp decide he needs height as well as strength Can may be called upon. This would help with set pieces against us – which still appears to be our weakness.
West Brom love their set pieces – we don’t. I’m sure we’ll see Karius between the sticks after a clean sheet against United I’m hoping his confidence is high.
I am hoping that it will be a better game than last season where a Divock Origi’s deflected 95th-minute strike rescued a point.
There is something different about us this year. We seem to have something different about us. We have beaten the top teams and also the teams lower in the league – something we struggled last year.
Bring it on – YNWA
