Liverpool’s transfer rumours – who have we been linked to? We have in fact been linked with a lot of players recently, the chances of a few signings during the winter transfer window is growing by the day. Despite being the Premier League’s entertainers this season, scoring more goals than anyone else so far, most of the players linked would improve our options going forward.

However there is a growing concern that our defence needs to be looked at, as it’s been vulnerable too often.

Julian Draxler  according to The Express Klopp had set his sights on Draxler. However according to ESPN the Wolfsburg winger was also a serious target of PSG’S. Looks like ESPN were correct, as he signed the next day.

Christian Pulisic – Borussia Dortmund have issued a hands-off warning to Liverpool, insisting Pulisic will not be sold. FSG have stated they’d like to sign a US star. He fits the bill. With Dortmund being so reluctant it may be an option for the summer.

Quincy Promes – The Liverpool Echo report the Reds are tracking the Netherlands international with a view to signing the Spartak Moscow forward in January. The link to the club through Wijnaldum is getting stronger.

Geoffrey Kondogbia – Liverpool are leading the race to sign £18.5m-rated Inter Milan midfielder, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Thiago Maia – Liverpool were one of five European Clubs who are interested in signing Santos defensive midfielder according to ESPN news sources in Brazil. Other clubs interested included; Monaco, Napoli, Schalke 04 and Zenit St Petersburg.

Javier Hernandez – The reports for the Mirror suggest they are chasing a deal that would bring the former Manchester United favourite back to English football. Someone of Javier Hernandez’s quality, goal threat and movement may be worth a look at in more detail.

Sardar Azmoun – The Rostov midfielder has had this to say on his future: “Ajax, PSV or Liverpool? I have not received any offers. If there are, then I’m going to take my time to look into it, whether it’s come from Liverpool or other clubs.”

Mahmoud Dahoud – Jurgen Klopp is preparing a £25m January move for the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder, reports German newspaper Die Express. Another one that may have to wait till the summer as Monchengladbach said they didn’t want to lose him and Granit Xhaka in the same season.

Andre Silva – According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Liverpool sent scouts to watch Silva in action during Porto’s 1-0 win over Braga on earlier in the month.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – Liverpool are closely monitoring Oxlade-Chamberlain’s availability as Jürgen Klopp is considering new ways to add extra depth to his squad to mount a serious title challenge. Klopp denied newspaper reports suggesting Liverpool could sign Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. “Usually I don’t say anything about transfers but I will make an exception. Nonsense.”

Inaki Williams – The 22-year-old has a buyout clause of £45m at the San Mames which Liverpool are believed to be willing to meet.

Moussa Dembele – The Celtic star is on Liverpool’s radar, according to the Daily Mirror, with a substantial fee plus add-ons in the offing.

Alexandre Lacazette – The Lyon hitman told French publication Le10 Sport earlier this year: “I know it is possible to go to the Premier League, and Lyon is also aware.” He has been linked to Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle Utd and West Ham. So a move to the Premier League is highly likely.

Joe Hart – According to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool are being linked with Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart. Pep Guardiola very quickly deemed Hart surplus to requirements when he bought Barcelona reserve goalkeeper Claudio Bravo for £17m. A great purchase, on his day a world class goalkeeper who has the potential to win a game for you. However, I wouldn’t expect anything until the summer.

Paul-Georges Ntep – The Daily Star are reporting that it is becoming increasingly likely that Ntep will leave Rennes in January, with Liverpool expressing an interest.

Gabriel Barbosa – Out of favour at Inter Milan, The Sun are reporting Liverpool are leading a long line of suitors monitoring the 20-year-old’s situation.

A growing list of players, just keeps on growing by the day. FSG have been very tight lipped about everything. Denying all the rumours. I would be very surprised if we don’t buy someone from the list.
With Coutinho injured and Mané at the African Cup of Nations most people would expect a young, powerful, attacking player comfortable on either wing. My money would be on Promes.

  1. So frustrating at the moment – however not rocket science that the top clubs won’t sell their top players, especially mid-season. Let’s hope he gets extra cash to spend in the off season.
