Liverpool remain hopeful of signing Rodriguez 3 Comments

TRANSFER RUMOUR: Liverpool are hopeful of signing Real Madrid attacking midfielder James Rodriguez if they qualify for the Champions League, according to the Mirror. Having had previous approaches for the 25-year-old turned down in the past, it now appears a deal could be a possibility.

Rodriguez has struggled to establish himself since joining Real Madrid, and is now reportedly looking to leave the club. The Colombian international has been linked with a move to Chelsea as part of a swap deal with Eden Hazard, although the Premier League leaders are reluctant to sell their Belgian attacker.

Real Madrid’s willingness to sell has alerted Liverpool, who are hoping that the allure of Champions League football could persuade Rodriguez to join.

His situation has led to the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea keeping tabs on him.

Reports last week claimed Jurgen Klopp was hopeful of completing a move for the 25-year-old while Jose Mourinho is also a long-term admirer of the 25-year-old.

A Real Madrid source said: “It seems Zidane is not satisfied with the player this season and has already asked for reinforcements in this position for next season. The player isn’t happy and it now appears a move in the summer is very feasible.”

Rodriguez is under contract with the European champions until 2020, and is expected to be valued at around £65m in the summer. The former Monaco midfielder has started just 12 games this season, with nine substitute appearances in all competitions.

James is a talented player with points deducted for negative attitude.

If you believe character is the most important quality in a footballer, then James is not in the discussion. We need more of the selfless players like Millie and Winnie.

    Prima donnas not wanted!

I really like James. However can’t see how he’s going to fit into our team. Yes his is a world class talent but he goes missing too often.
He’s much more suited in Germany or Italy.

If Liverpool FC really have to release because of the persistence of Barcelona on Coutinho, I guess addition of James Rodriguez will be the right replacement for Coutinho should Coutinho really have to leave LFC which is again, will be heavy heart to all Liverpool’s fans…
But again, we have seen this in the likes of Luis Suarez saga,.. which is now we reluctantly have to admit that we are fast becoming the canon fodder for megabig clubs like Barcelona
