Liverpool have rejected a bid of €100m (£90m) from Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho. This was in fact their second bid for the 25-year-old, which was rejected immediately.
This particular bid came in two stages; an initial €85m (£76.8m) plus €15m (£13.5m) in add-ons.
Thankfully, Liverpool have reiterated that Coutinho – who joined them from Inter Milan for £8.5m in 2013 – is not for sale. Klopp said Liverpool were not “a selling club” when Barcelona’s previous £72m offer was rejected in July. As far as they are consider the matter is closed.
Last season Coutinho scored 14 goals despite spending six weeks out with an ankle injury. He also signed a new five-year deal in January, which did not include a release clause – this gives Liverpool the upper hand during the recent transfer enquiries.
