Liverpool are reportedly pursuing a move for Schalke 04 left-back
Liverpool are reportedly pursuing a move for Schalke 04 left-back Sead Kolasinac next summer. Potentially raiding Schalke 04 for another free transfer.
There were a lot of stories this summer and fans expected Jurgen Klopp to sign Hector. He did throw a curve ball and converted James Milner into the best left-back in the Premier League.
Replacement for Milner
Milner has had a tremendous start to the season since the Burnley game after Moreno’s shock game against Arsenal.
However when Milner was ill, Moreno really stepped up with 2 great performances against Tottenham in the Cup and Crystal Palace.
Klopp needs to find a new long-term solution, with James Milner turning 31 in January.
Bosnia & Herzegovina international Kolasinac is the latest name to come out.
Possibly due to Liverpool’s relationship with Schalke 04 after the signing of Joel Matip.
The Cameroonian has had an excellent start to his career in the Premier League with Liverpool. Klopp should be encouraged to use the free-transfer market again, especially if we get similar quality again.
Can he defend?
His recent performance against Borussia Dortmund really showcased his defensive talents.
During that game he made 3 successful tackles, 3 interceptions and 6 clearances.
Another Liverpool target, Christian Pulisic was in his pocket throughout the game.
Kolasinac’s an aggressive, front-footed left-back, who would seemingly slot into Klopp’s squad comfortably, providing energy and pace don the left.
Liverpool would reportedly face competition from West Ham United and Chelsea for his signature.
What about Moreno?
Speaking to LFCTV Klopp stressed his belief that Moreno can still be an important player for Liverpool.
He is young enough to adapt and several years away from the ‘prime age’ of a footballer.
“There was never a doubt about Alberto. But he’s a young player, he needs to learn a lot of things,”
“Sometimes he’s a little bit too passionate in defending, that’s right.”
“He’s from Spain, south Europe, so he’s a little bit hot-blooded sometimes, as we say. But he’s still young, and you can learn things.”
