Liverpool are leading the race to sign Brazilian striker Luan
TRANSFER RUMOURS: Jurgen Klopp looks to address some of Liverpool’s areas of weakness over the coming weeks. The latest story comes from Mirror Sport is that Liverpool are close to completing a £26m deal for Brazilian striker Luan.
It’s understood that Luan’s representative recently visited England, with the Mirror claiming that his agent made contact with Liverpool officials during that time.
The 24-year-old starred in the 2016 Olympic games, where he scored stunning goals in both the last-eight and semi-final.
With just a year remaining on his contract at club-side Gremio, the forward is understood to have turned down the offer of a new deal and will likely leave in the coming months.
More firepower needed
Klopp is keen to add more firepower to his forward line and both Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho could also be key to completing the deal, as they look to convince their compatriot to join the club. With stories suggesting Liverpool are confident a £26m bid will be enough to make the transfer happen.
Dubbed the ‘next Ronaldhino’, Luan is held in high regard back in his home land and is seen as a future star along with Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus.
His versatile style means he could play in a number of different positions in Liverpool’s system, which typically sees three forwards utilised.
