Liverpool in for Mane
Liverpool are prepared to exchange Jordon Ibe in a deal with Southampton for Sadio Mane, according to the Daily Star.
He scored six goals and assisted 11 goals in the Premier League for Southampton last season. After the successful 2 seasons the 24 year old has also been linked with a move to Manchester United.
Jurgen Klopp is said to be interested in bringing him in as an alternative option to Mario Gotze after he decided he’d stay at Bayern Munich.
The biggest challenge will be agreeing a price, Southampton are believed to value their attacker at £30m and Liverpool are expected to offer £20m plus Jordon Ibe to sign the Senegalese man.
After Raheem Sterling left for Manchester City at the start of last season everyone expected Jordon Ibe to carry on from where he left off. In his defence he was Liverpools only natural wide man and possibly too much was asked from him so soon. But one thing can be said of Klopp, he really gave him his opportunity.
Mane will add some much needed pace and power up front for the Reds, who have had to heavily depend on Divock Origi and Roberto Firmino to lead the line as Christian Benteke was out of favour and Daniel Sturridge struggled to build form following his return from injury. The Senegalese international scored 11 goals and assisted six last season.
2 goals that would have impressed Klopp would have been when they played at St Mary’s. Where Liverpool let a 2 goal lead slip at half time then lost 3-2. Mane was instrument that 2nd half as he showed a master class and destroyed the frail Liverpool defence.
Eye for goal as well as power….
Mane described the fastest hat-trick in Premier League history as his “best moment in football” after he netted 3 goals in two minutes and 56 seconds in the 6-1 win against Aston Villa. Phenomenal….
