Liverpool have now emerged as clear favourites to beat Arsenal to £30m Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel. Jurgen Klopp has rotated between Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius this season, with both keepers struggling for form.
The Reds have recently been linked with a move for Schmeichel at Leicester, with reports suggesting the Denmark No 1 would command a £30million fee.
Whilst Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius have both struggled for form this season it’s fair to say that Klopp has given them both a lot of support and opportunity to cement the no.1 Jersey their own. Throughout the season Liverpool’s goalkeeping woes have meant a lot of points have been dropped so it’s not surprising the hear attentions have now turned to acquiring a new number one this summer.
They will however have to fight it out with Arsenal as there have been reports suggesting Arsene Wenger is looking for a replacement for Petr Cech.
At the moment Leicester sit just one point above the relegation zone and Schmeichel would be expected to leave the Foxes should they go down.
It would be interesting to know what his father, United legend Peter Schmeichel would think about the prospect of a move. A move to Anfield would be hard to turn down for Kasper as it would be a big step up from Leicester and another opportunity to prove he can also be a great Dane.
