Liverpool are closing in on a deal for Leicester City star Demarai Gray after the youngster’s growing frustration at the lack of game time he’s been receiving since his arrival at the club. Reports in the Mirror suggest Klopp is ready to trigger the £12m release clause in Gray’s contract when the summer transfer window opens in July.
The 20-year-old certainly has potential to make a positive impact in the Premier league with strength, pace and quick feet. He did pick up a winner’s medal last year with Leicester City, but made most of his appearances for the club from the bench as substitute.
Leicester have struggled for the most part of the season with the defence of their Premier League title at stake – he could have easily made more appearances for the Foxes to give him a chance and the team something different in a way of attack.
Leicester City will make an impressive £8.5m on the player though after they bought him from Birmingham just 18 months ago, but his lack of game time has left him more than a little frustrated and his situation has attracted the attention of Liverpool.
However, the Reds will face some competition to sign the winger with fellow Merseyside club Everton interested and also Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham keeping tabs on the pacey winger.
