Liverpool are closely monitoring Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Liverpool are closely monitoring Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s availability as Jürgen Klopp is considering new ways to add extra depth to his squad to mount a serious title challenge.

  • Jürgen Klopp interested in 23-year-old forward to bolster title challenge
  • League positions and animosity from 2013 Suárez saga could hamper move
  • Scored six goals in all competitions for Arsenal this season
  • Frustrated at being unable to pin down a regular starting spot.
  • Started only eight Premier League matches this season, lasting the full 90 minutes only once
  • 24 England caps.
  • League positions and animosity from 2013 Suárez saga could hamper move

Players linked to Liverpool

There have been a lot of players linked with Liverpool over the past few weeks. It does make you feel that something will actually happen in January now. Out of all the recent rumours of Pulisic, Promes and now Oxlade-Chamberlain I must admit this excites me the most.

He really is a suitable replacement for Mane, pace, power on the ball and also Premier League experience. Also liking to drift into different positions, this would allow him to fit into Klopps attacking model.

At 23, Oxlade-Chamberlain is still young in football terms and a player, so despite having a relatively expensive valuation in the region of around £20m he would still represent good value for money for FSG’s and Edward’s business model.

Clubs not playing nicely

The one issue is the politics between the two clubs, initially we had the Suarez offer from Arsenal of £40m plus £1. Then just recently we have the new Firmino contract – where his bizarre release clause is set at €98m, however it can be triggered by any club except Arsenal. Despite Arsenal being initially open to the idea of selling him in the summer, I’m not 100% sure that Arsenal will play ball.

Now been 7 months of closely monitoring, he’s a class act and should be signed – not Salah!
