Adam Lallana reveals Jurgen Klopp’s masterstroke in Liverpool’s win by gambling with an attacking team in Liverpool’s 4-0 demolition of West Ham today.
Lallana and Daniel Sturridge were put back in the starting XI as Liverpool went for victory at the London Stadium. And the move worked, with Sturridge ending his four-month long goal drought before Philippe Coutinho’s double and a Divock Origi scramble secured the 4-0 win.
The result means Liverpool just need a win in their final game of the season against Middlesbrough to land a top-four finish. Lallana, who was a fitness doubt for the game, credited Klopp with the win.
“We were calm going into the game. People thought the pressure was on but the team that the manager picked had goals in it and we were always going to get chances.”
“We came out for the second half, started well and created chances. It could have been more in the end. It was an all-round good team performance and now we can prepare for next weekend.”
“If we finish in the top four it will be a successful season. Then we have the willingness to continue and always keep improving.”
