BBC Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer has heaped praise on Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana. During a BBC broadcast he claimed that the 28-year-old has been ‘brilliant all season’.
Having scored twice and assisted Origi in Liverpool’s 3-0 win at Middlesbrough on Wednesday night, he earned himself the ‘Man of the Match’ award after a superb performance.
New found freedom
Lallana is clearly enjoying the new found freedom of his current attacking role where he has been in stunning form all season, scoring six and providing six assists in 12 starts.
When he is on fire, so are Liverpool, who continue to look like credible title-contenders.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was delighted with his side’s performance in the 3-0 win.
He was full of praise for his side’s intensity in the post-match press conference.
However Klopp wasn’t the only one to direct praise at his players, as BBC pundit Alan Shearer, who was speaking on Match of the Day, also reserved special praise for match-winner Lallana.
Shearer said: “Jurgen Klopp has given Lallana more license to roam and get forward. He wants to be involved and he was absolutely brilliant tonight, as he has been for large parts of this season.”
Anfield legend Jamie Carragher also picked Lallana out as a star performer, writing on Twitter:
The win at the Riverside Stadium sees Jurgen Klopp’s side go six points behind leaders Chelsea after 16 games
They are already seven points clear of rivals Manchester United, who occupy sixth.
