Juventus linked with a move for Emre Can

TRANSFER RUMOURS: Liverpool midfielder Emre Can could be targeted by Serie A giants Juventus for a transfer this summer, according to the Daily Star. The reports sugguest that Liverpool would demand upwards of £26.5m for his signature.

It’s yet to be known if this interest would advance into a formal bid for the Germany International.

Can, 23, moved to Anfield three years ago from Bayer Leverkusen for £9.75m, and has established himself firmly in their midfield, with 129 appearances in all competitions.

He was particularly impressive towards the back end of last season, stepping into the void left by the injured Jordan Henderson and turning in several eye catching displays.

In particular against Watford where he scored the goal of the season with a sensational overhead kick in a 1-0 victory. One that he claimed was probably the best goal of his career.

Liverpool full of midfield options

With Henderson due to return and renewed competition from the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Georginio Wijnaldum, Adam Lallana, and James Milner in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield, the German could find himself vulnerable, and Juventus could look to take advantage.

Whilst Can was off winning the Confederations Cup this summer with Germany, Liverpool were heavily linked with £70m move for RB Leipzig’s Naby Keita – something that has yet to materialise as Klopp plays the waiting game!

He has been linked with Juventus for a while as reported in June this year. However, should a move actually materialise then Can could potentially find himself permanently benched. It has been suggested that Juventus boss Max Allegri views Can as a long term replacement for Sami Khedira – not a potential starter.

Can leaving would be such a shame as I firmly believe that he has the potential to go all the way at Liverpool with Klopp at the helm. In fact last year predicting he should be in line for the captaincy!
