Should Liverpool look at left-back Jordan Amavi again..?
Ever since Alberto Moreno’s poor performance in the Europa league final Liverpool have been linked with every available left-back. Should Liverpool look at left-back Jordan Amavi again?
Liverpool were linked with Aston Villa’s Jordan Amavi over the summer. There were reports that Liverpool contacted the player’s representatives over a possible transfer.
Is he any good?
I’ll be honest, i wasn’t too sure earlier on when we were linked. But after all the talk of Moreno again, i started looking at alternatives. There aren’t a lot. A lot due to the fact that we are not a Champions league club. So we can’t attract the likes of Jonas Hector.

Amavi is great a getting forward and is a constant threat when overlapping on the left.
He is very comfortable on the ball with an incredibly high work rate.
How does he compare?
He is actually very good at tackling too…something that Moreno has come under scrutiny recently. Whilst at Nice no other full back one made any more tackles than him that season.
Another issue with Moreno is his positional sense. He is possibly the only threat down Liverpool’s left. Utilising his pace to track back, however never seems to get into position quick enough. Amavi actually makes 4.3 interceptions per game. Higher than Moreno.

Despite being a left footed full back, he can use his right foot. He often pulls the opposing full back out of position by cutting onto his right.
Often resulting in a free kick….which, he often takes too. As he is also a dead-ball specialist.
Who else is interested..?
We would face competition for the 22 year old left-backs signature. With Marseille, AS Monaco, Lyon and AC Milan all said to be keen, however no offer has been put forward.
I’m sure the thought of playing in the Premier League with Jurgen Klopp would tempt the France U21 international to stay in England.
If Liverpool are serious about a transfer they’d have to put in an offer of at least £11m for Amavi.
However he missed most of Aston Villa’s Premier League campaign after suffering from an ACL injury in November. This whilst on International duty, sounds familiar!!
He was tipped by several people to make the French squad for Euro 2016. So he certainly is one for the future.
You have to question how, after only a handful of games can we justify the increase in valuation from £8.25m to £11m….?
Or, with Moreno’s poor performances, can we justify not to pay it?
