Liverpool duo Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana will be flying to the US in a bid to be fighting fit for the challenge of a top four spot. Both of them have flown to Miami as they look to bounce back from their recent injuries.
Henderson has been troubled by a foot problem for the past month, while Lallana suffered a thigh strain on international duty with England.
Lallana faces up to a month on the sidelines, while Henderson is expected to miss the games with Bournemouth and Stoke at the very least. The captain has not featured since the win over Tottenham in February, with Jurgen Klopp admitting last week that he had suffered a setback in his recovery. Having been originally pencilled in to return for Saturday’s Merseyside derby with Everton.
Trip to the US
The initial plan was for Henderson to return to training last week and potentially be available for selection for the game against Bournemouth. Henderson missed a large part of last season with a heel issue, at one stage flying to New Jersey for specialist treatment as part of his rehabilitation. Whether it’s medical treatment or simply a change of scenery, let’s hope it works as they will need to prepare themselves for what will be a crucial last eight games this season.
