Hamsik to Liverpool?
Reports have come out in Italy that we are trying buy Slovakia star Marek Hamsik from Napoli. They suggest that a huge offer has already been submitted.
Sources claim that Aurelio De Laurentis, the Napoli president, has received an enquiry to test their resolve of around €45m for Hamsik. This equals the £35m we spend on Andy Carroll. Personally I’m hoping they increase the offer to remove the label and memory of most expensive player….
A contract worth £6m per year over 4 years is also being worked out….
Hamsik is a quality player with a lot of experience. The 28yr old has been amazing at the European Championships this year and would be seen as a major coup. Although a big fee for a 28yr old would go against FSG’s moneyball strategy.
He is calm on the ball and likes to attack with pace and power and would provide more composure on the ball when we attack. He could also be a great alternative to Lallana on the right.
A front 4 of Sturridge, Coutinho, Firmino and Hamsik would terrorise the best of Premier league defences.
Hamsik is intelligent in the way he spreads play from flank to flank. This works incredibly well with wing-backs, distributing the ball out quickly to the wing allowing time for him to ghost into the box having put himself into a goalscoring opportunity. It’s this technique that has made people compare him with Frank Lampard, who incidentally made a career of timing his runs almost to perfection.
What do you think?
Would you play him in Lallana’s role or could he be our ‘Frank Lampard’ and sit along side Can, receiving the ball in the centre and dictating play from there…?
Would a move to Liverpool be considered a ‘Big Club move’ or just one for the money…?
I for one am excited that we are being linked to players of this calibre, it may just be agent talk….but for the next couple of weeks I’m going to enjoy the stories of all the world class players being linked to us. In the hope that some can buy into Klopp’s ideologies and sign on the dotted line….
