The much anticipated, much awaited return of Joe Gomez has allowed Klopp to concentrate on finding suitable cover for our attackers this transfer window. Klopp is so excited by the teenager’s potential and rates him so highly he left room in the Liverpool squad for him as the teenager prepares for his eagerly anticipated return.
Gomez is expected to make his long-awaited return to first team action against Plymouth Argyle on Sunday in the 3rd Round of the FA Cup at Anfield.
He started his Anfield career so brightly, playing as a Left-back for Rodgers until he ruptured his Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in October 2015. Which was just a few days after Klopp’s took over at the club.
He had yet another career set back last summer when he suffered an Achilles injury. Sadly, wrecking any hope of a return to action at the start of the season.
No defender signed
Klopp didn’t sign another defender as he thought they would block his path to the first team. Knowing the teenager would be worth the wait.
This October Gomez was given a spontaneous round of applause by his fellow teammates when he returned to full training for the first time in 12 months.
The lad is special. Rodgers knew this when he bought him. Klopp has demonstrated his feelings the past 12 months. It’s now his time to shine.
Is it too soon to state him and Matip could be out no.1 pairing next season?
