Jurgen Klopp would welcome Steven Gerrard having Liverpool role should he decided to return to Anfield when he finally retires.
- Klopp has said Gerrard will always be welcome at Liverpool.
- Gerrard gave the clearest hint yet his days with LA Galaxy are over.
- Klopp has cleared the way for Gerrard to return to Liverpool by announcing there will be a role for the club’s former captain.
The 36-year-old’s messages on instagram on Saturday certainly indicated that his time with LA Galaxy is coming to an end.
His Instagram message read; “Living in Los Angeles and playing for the great Galaxy supporters has been a privilege. You have made this place feel like home to me. This city and this club will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you.”
It suspiciously sounds like a goodbye to LA and the MLS club he joined in July last year.
Always on the cards
A Gerrard return to Liverpool has always been on the cards. He spent 17 years at his boyhood club. We need in what capacity he returns.
There has been stories circulating Klopp wouldn’t entertain a return for the Legend – whilst initially moulding his squad and installing his ethos I don’t blame him.
Fans never wanted Gerrard to leave in the 1st place. So a return would be music to a lot of fans ears. Now we just need to understand Klopp’s ideas on how to accommodate the former captain.
The good news is after the victory over West Brom Klopp said;
“Steven Gerrard – and this will be a really big surprise – is always so welcome at Liverpool FC.”
“You cannot imagine how welcome so absolutely no problem, but everything we will talk to each other about will stay in these talks. That is how I know Stevie and that is how I am.”
Ruled out Gerrard returning in a playing capacity in January
“Nobody should be worried that we don’t have space for Steven Gerrard. Everything will be fine, 100%.”
