Liverpool midfielder Emre Can is set to commit his long term future to the club, when he returns from holiday following his recent Confederations Cup win with Germany.
This would see Can join up with the Liverpool squad ahead of the club’s pre-season campaign, where they play against the likes of Bayern Munich, Crystal Palace and Hertha BSC.
According to reports from Football Italia, Can will sign new lucrative five-year contract, despite interest from Serie A giants Juventus.
The tireless midfielder became a key player for Liverpool last season, taking on the unenviable task of filling the injury-plagued Jordan Henderson’s boots in the heart of midfield.
Jürgen Klopp reportedly put his players through a cruel fitness regime last season, and Can proved to be one of the squad players to visibly benefit.
Last season’s transformation
Liverpool fans will be desperate to hang on to the former Bayern Munich man, who over the course of the season transformed himself from a benchmark into a vital cog in the midfield.
Such a transformation indeed as he produced some superb performances and let’s not forget his stunning overhead bicycle kick in a 1-0 away win to Watford.
The goal was subsequently voted the BBC Goal of the Season at the end of the Premier League season.
