Dortmund keen on securing Liverpool target Pulisic

Jürgen Klopp’s old club Borussia Dortmund are keen to extend Christian Pulisic’s current contract. Trying to prevent Liverpool tempting him to the Premier League, according to reports in the Liverpool Echo.

The American star joined the German club when Jürgen Klopp was in charge in 2015.
Despite being only 18 years old, he is now a regular first team player. Regularly featuring for Thomas Tuchel’s team – having risen through the academy.
Over the past few months he has been linked with a move to Liverpool – whether it’s the Klopp-Dortmund link, I’m not sure.
There were reports that Liverpool attempted to sign Pulisic in the summer, but the £11m bid failed.

Pulisic now a first team player. Regularly featuring for Tuchel’s team.

Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director, Michael Zorc, announced that intend to offer the American a contract extension. The plan being he can continue his development under Tuchel and his coaching staff. “We did not educate him to sell him. We have a long-running contract until 2019, but because of his development the club is ready to speak to him to prolong his contract at any time.”
“There have been some offers for him in the summer window from England and from German clubs, but we would like to have him here and develop him here.”

Short up front?

Liverpool could be left short up front during the new year, when incidentally the fixtures come through thick and fast! The fixtures will cause a strain on Klopp’s team, exacerbated by the high tempo play there is a possibility of more injuries. Danny Ings was recently ruled out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury and Saido Mane is expected to leave for the African Cup of Nations in the new year.

Surprised how fast

Pulisic on duty for USA

Christian Pulisic has admitted that he is surprised with how fast his career for club and country has progressed. In an interview with ESPN before his World Cup qualifier against Mexico on Friday he was quoted;
“If you asked me last November, where I thought I would be, I would not say, ‘Right I where I am now.’ Obviously I wasn’t expecting it to all go so fast, with things at Dortmund and then the national team.”

“It’s not like, ‘I can’t believe it.’ It’s my dream and it just came faster than I thought it would. But I know I completely deserve to be here.”

Liverpool have had a great start to the season, exceeding most people’s expectations. I’m sure Klopp would want to all he can to continue their early season form and claim their first ever Premier League title.
