Some shocking news coming out of Anfield this Christmas. Philippe Coutinho is unsettled at Liverpool. While Klopp is desperate to keep his star man, Liverpool privately accept he is likely to move on in the summer.
Philippe Coutinho is currently sidelined with an ankle injury sustained during the 2-0 victory over Sunderland last month. Despite having set his sights on a comeback for Liverpool’s crunch clash with Manchester City on New Year’s Eve, it’s not looking unlikely that will happen now. However Coutinho’s immediate lack of fitness is the least of his worries.
Usual suspects linked
The usual suspects of Barcelona and PSG have popped up again. However just recently Bundesliga champions Bayern are now interested in the 24-year-old, who has scored six goals in 14 appearances this season.
Express Sport understands PSG are plotting a £40million bid for Coutinho, despite already agreeing a £38m move for Wolfsburg winger Julian Draxler.
Coutinho is not planning on leaving Liverpool in January, while the Anfield club
It is unlikely Liverpool would accept any offers, naturally the owners would prefer to take stock during the summer period where Edwards and Klopp will have longer to plan without the distractions of a Premier League title battle.
It is thought that Coutinho is aware of interest from abroad and has become unsettled on Merseyside. Unfortunately the reports state he thinks he would have more chance of winning trophies regularly should he move abroad.
The influence of Neymar
Sources claim Coutinho’s close friend and compatriot Neymar has told Barcelona he is keen to come to the Nou Camp.
However the La Liga giants will wait until the end of the season before making their move.
Ex-Barcelona legend and fellow Brazilian Ronaldinho has revealed that his old club are watching Coutinho. “He has been one of the stand out players in Europe this season – and I know there is a lot of admiration of him at Barcelona.”
Is now the right time for Liverpool to seriously persue Christan Pulisic?
