Barcelona had sent a three-man delegation to the UK hoping to tie up a £100m deal for Philippe Coutinho by the end of the week as another Liverpool legend claims the Reds should resist any and all offers.
It is still thought that Coutinho is Barcelona’s number 1 target after the sale of Neymar to PSG last Thursday.
2 ex-Liverpool players have been very public with their thoughts on the story;
Steve Nicol stating that Liverpool’s owners will have chosen “money over glory” if they decide to sell Coutinho.
Jamie Carragher voiced his concerns that Liverpool fans would “riot” if Coutinho was sold to Barcelona.
The concerns are that should a sale actually go ahead it will have a huge impact on Jurgen Klopp’s preparations dor the opening game of the season against Watford on Saturday.
This is going to be a defining time for Liverpool, John Henry and FSG. If they truly want to win the Premier League they are going to have to keep star players, they can’t sell them on at their peak anymore and it must start with Coutinho.
