Transfer season must be fast approaching as the 1st of Arda Turan linked to Liverpool is doing the rounds. It’s almost as if the media have a countdown for transfer season. ‘T-50 days, bring out the Turan story.’
This time it’s a different approach, more of a response in Barcelona’s pursuit of our own highly-rated playmaker Philippe Coutinho.
According to Spanish news source Don Balon, Jurgen Klopp has identified the Turkish midfielder as a player who would fit right into his system.
Coutinho’s form this season has seen him emerge as the top target for both Barcelona and Real Madrid. However Madrid are banned from any transfer activities for the next two windows, this makes the Catalan club in pole position to sign the Brazilian. Liverpool’s hierarchy are said to be very displeased, and are ready to ‘fight fire with fire’.
Sadio Mane could potentially be representing Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations. Turan is being touted as a proper replacement. This could be a great move as we are short of proper experience on the wing.
Turan Vs. Trident
Turan is a winger with vast experience, however hasn’t been able to get a regular 1st team place. Which to be fair, it’s hardly surprising when competing against the Trident of Messi, Neymar and Suarez. In this year alone the former Atletico Madrid winger has only played 5 full games, with a total of 16 appearances.
I think the stand alone purchase of Turan is a great one. He’s a quality player that offers something others in our team can’t. I am hoping Klopp steers clear of Barcelona’s advances of including him with money for Coutinho.
A swap involving Messi, Neymar or Suarez – yes. Turan – no.
We wait to see if this transfer happens. If not, towards the end of May 2017 expect to see a similar article.
